Stevan Vujovic
Chief Executive Officer

Stevan Vujovic has a background and tertiary qualifications in electronics and physics. He has been in the IT industry for over 20 years after a career in special forces of the Australian Regular Army. For the past20years he has been in IT security area, specialising in public key infrastructure technology, identity management and systems as Managing Director of Orex Research, a specialist IT security company. Orex Research has a number of long term customers, including the Australian Tax Office, Medicare and the Australian Department of Defence.

 

Stevan has an extensive background as an advisor and consultant with particular regard to security strategies in business and information technology. He has worked at the senior executive level in both the private and public sectors, consulting for organisations in Australia, the Middle East and Africa, providing security advice on major health and finance infrastructure developments. His advisory work has included major government agencies both in Australia and overseas. These include Medicare Australia, the Australian Department of Defence, the Australian Tax Office, The Lebanese Ministry of Health and the World Bank.

2 - Dr McFadden

Dr. Phil McFadden, AO FAA
Advisor

Dr. McFadden created and chaired the UNCOVER initiative, a national collaboration of government (all state and territory Geological Surveys and Geoscience Australia), the CSIRO, academia and 129 mineral exploration companies to develop the scientific knowledge needed to explore successfully for minerals in the covered areas of Australia. Discovery of strategic metals will fuel our economy and facilitate transition to a renewable energy future. The initiative is embedded in the National Mineral Exploration Strategy of COAG.
 

He has been recognised as the world leader in three different fields and as a consequence is an elected Fellow of the Academy of Science, of the American Geophysical Union and of the Royal Astronomical Society. He is a past member of the council and executive of the Academy.

3 - Duncan Lewis

Duncan Lewis

Major General Duncan Edward Lewis AODSCCSC (born 3 August 1953) is an Australian military officer, diplomat and intelligence chief. From 2014 to 2019, he was the Director-General of Security of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation(ASIO). Prior to that appointment, he held the post of Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. He is a retired Australian Army officer, and formerly Special Operations Commander Australia (2002–2004), National Security Adviser, and Secretary of the Department of Defence.

On 15 May 2014, Major General Lewis was appointed Director-General of Security (the head of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, Australia's domestic intelligence agency) following the retirement of David Irvine in September 2014. In this role he was one of the architects of a new "Push Back" policy to counter Chinese influence in Australia.

A trusted ITC Manager that has held Australian Defence Organization (ADO) SECRET (NV1) and Australian Government HIGHLY PROTECTED security clearances. Mr. Black is widely recognized for his skills as a leader and project manager in various technology domains.

5 - Jon Blum

Jon Blum
Head Security Software Development

Jonathan (Jon) Blum graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland in 1994 with a B.S. in Computer Science before coming to Australia in 1998 and receiving permanent residency. He has worked as a software engineer for twenty five years. His specialty has been public-key cryptography systems, including certificate generation and secure messaging. At Baltimore Technologies, now part of Verizon Business Australia, and now Orex Research, he helped develop and deploy systems ranging from the ATO PKI including its AUSkey successor through to the Medicare eSignature search website, Telstra PKI, Customs CCF secure messaging system, and the original Small Business Reporting (SBR) system’s e-Tax CA. In 2002, for example, a hacker claimed to have successfully hacked the ATO SBR e-Tax system. Jon's expertise was called on to demonstrate that the alleged hackers had not succeeded in breaking its security.

Jon was responsible for the development activities associated with the upgrade of the Australian Government’s (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) passport utilising PrimeKey, issuing system and subsequent updating in line with emerging ICAO Standards and security threats. He has recently been working as the architect and senior developer in Orex’s in-house project, EMPSecure. EMPSecure is a PKI enabled, cryptographic system that provides users with confidence that their data, stored in the cloud, is secure both in-transit and at rest locally and in the cloud.

6 - Kev Loughrey

Kevin Loughrey
Head of Mechanical Design and Manufacturing

Lt. Col. Kevin Loughrey (Retired) graduated from the Royal Military College in 1972 with an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is also a graduate of Command and Staff College, the Senior Logistics Management Course (UK) and the Joint Services Staff College. He served for a total of 32 years, 4 of which were on exchange with the British Army.

In 1997, he decided to form his own company and devote his energies to the promotion of Open Source Software as a means of accelerating the development of less fortunate nations whilst assisting the Australian economy. A major portion of his work in private practice has involved developing systems that demonstrate to small and medium sized businesses how Open Source Software can improve their competitiveness. He has also been a long time supporter of the St George Intellectual Disability Foundation and they, too, have benefited greatly from the application of Open Source Software and devices Kevin has designed and constructed to facilitate their production operations.​

9 - Chris Mounkley

Chris Mounkley
Head of Drone Design Fixed Wing

Mr Mounkley has had an extensive international career in the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) field. With over 26 years’ experience in the UAS industry, Mr Mounkley has been a pioneer in developing fixed and rotary wing unmanned aircraft. Many of the unmanned systems Mr Mounkley has designed and developed are in use today around the world.

 

Mr Mounkley was a member of the Special Forces in the British Army, with proficiency as a helicopter pilot and qualified sniper. Upon leaving military service in 1987, Mr Mounkley emigrated to Australia and started his first company, an engineering firm with a specialisation in power generation for the mining industry. To pursue his passion for unmanned aircrafts, Mr Mounkley sold his engineering firm in 2006 and started an R&D company in the field of unmanned aircrafts and control systems, where he developed several unmanned systems which are still in use with Australian Defence Forces (ADF) and conducted classified projects with the Australian Defence Science & Technology Group (DSTG).

Gideon Maxwell
Head of Industrial Design

Melbourne-based Industrial Designer with experience in CAD modelling, rapid prototyping, design thinking and problem solving. Capable worker with experience in many different environments, as team member, team leader and freelance contractor.

Skills include Fusion 360, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite, Jira, Confluence. Worked as an IT Consultant for Orex Research, Developing user manuals and testing protocols for new and existing software, I collaborate with developers and program testers to stress-test new features and document functionality of features. I utilise Jira, Confluence and Teams to develop user manuals and robust testing procedures and evaluation protocols.

12 - John Withers

John Withers
Human Resources

John has extensive experience as a leader and manager in Defence, and more recently in the private and public sectors. After completing schooling in Melbourne he entered the Royal Military College and served as an officer in the Australian Regular Army for 25 years in the infantry and the Special Air Service Regiment. As a senior officer the primary areas of focus were strategic and operational planning, including a secondment to the United Nations in New York in the Mission Planning Service, and in human resources with senior postings to Officer and Soldier career management.

 

After leaving the Regular Army in 1998, John moved with his family to Hobart where he has worked in the private and public sectors. John is a Human Resources and Leadership specialist and in the past 12 years holding a number of senior positions in the Tasmanian State Government. He is currently with the Department of Justice which has included leadership roles with the Tasmania Prison Service, Crown Law and WorkSafe. He also continued his military service in the Reserves retiring as a Brigadier in 2019.

Harriet Warlow Shill
Head of Legal Affairs

Harriet is the Founder & Principal of an innovative firm with a focus on client service, dedication and excellence. Harriet has acted for developers, government, major mining companies and builders across three states: WA, NSW and Victoria. Harriet has been involved in many reported decisions involving the Security of Payments legislative regimes across New South Wales, ACT and Victoria. Harriet has also acted for the Receivers and Managers of a major Nickel mine achieving settlements for defective construction works.

 

Harriet regularly presents on topics of her expertise and has lectured in litigation procedure and professional ethics at the University of Western Australia and the University of New South Wales.

Harriet favours an open and agile approach to client service and legal excellence. Harriet currently sits on the Building and Construction Working Group of the Law Institute of Victoria, is on the board of United Hatzalah Australia, is heavily involved in the Building Dispute Practitioner Society (BDPS), serves as Co-Chair of Chabad Institutions of Victoria Limited, and is Vice Chair of Australian Friends of Ariel University. She also volunteers at various organisations including Jewish House and in her local community.
